New Paragraph
Environment
We care about operating an environmentally friendly business that reduces carbon output and contributes to an overall reduced footprint. We use a bio-mass thermal oil system to kiln dry our timber and the thermal oil plant is powered by by-products (sawdust and shavings) from our sawmill.
Products & Processes
This eliminates the need for fossil fuel powered kilns. When carried out responsibly, timber production is a sustainable industry that can be truly beneficial to our environment. Our team takes all of the precautions necessary to ensure that we are doing whatever we can to be environmentally responsible.
Sustainable Timber
Timber is one material that we use in our daily lives that is sustainably produced. In order to harvest timber responsibly, we must ensure when one tree is cut down another is immediately planted to replace it.
Managed plantations guarantee re-planting, re-grown and sustained wood is continually utilised,
contributing to a more environmentally friendly industry.
Low Carbon Output
Trees have the ability to store carbon dioxide and reduce the damaging effects that greenhouse gas has on the environment. Trees absorb the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and this carbon remains locked in the wood.
Even after manufacturing the carbon remains locked within the timber itself.
ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING
The Protection of the Environment legislation Amendment Act 2011 introduced several changes to the
Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (POEO Act) including the new requirement that holders
of an environment protection licence (‘licensees’) make their pollution monitoring data publicly available in
a timely manner. The intention of this new requirement is to improve the general public’s access to
information about the environmental performance of licensed facilities. Licensees are required to publish the
pollution monitoring data that has been collected as a result of a licence condition, in accordance with
section 66(6) of the POEO Act and written requirements issued by the EPA.
